New Management announces River Oaks Golf Club is Open and Ready for Play!

Westport Golf Club’s management took the helm of River Oaks Golf Club the first of August 2009.  With the exception of a 4 day period, River Oaks has been and will remain open and ready for play.

Statesville, NC – Southern Home Management (SHM), Westport Golf Club’s management and real estate company, has initiated consulting and management advisory services of River Oaks Golf Club.  The transition took place with relative ease the first part of August.  SHM will assist with improved internal controls, accounting, and financial reporting. In addition to its management responsibilities, SHM's Real Estate division will be marketing the sale of the property.

SHM will operate the semi-private 18-hole course located 10 minutes from Statesville, NC and 15 minutes from Hickory, NC, just off I-40.  Formerly called North Carolina National, the course was completely renovated in 2007.  Ed Carton helped oversee the multi-million dollar renovation.  The Par 71 course stretches out just over 6400 yards from the championship tees.  It offers a scenic golf adventure nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  River Oaks Golf Club is also surrounded by two River Oaks communities, The Landings and The Fairways. 

SHM currently owns and manages Westport Golf Club located on the western shores of Lake Norman in Denver, NC.  Members of both River Oaks and Westport will now enjoy the benefit of a reciprocating membership.  In addition to golf, Westport Club offers: The Club at Westport (a new Swim, Fitness, Tennis, and Social club) as well as new Single-Family Homes, Townhomes, and an upcoming Active Adult community.
